KOOKABURRAS... are one of the Australian’s dearest birds. These tree kingfishers are also native to New Guinea. They’re carnivorous, feeding on small birds, mice ,
snakes…and famous for laughing.
They were the mascot for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Say the fairy tale that long before men, the spirits thought the moon, stars and sun weren’t enough to make earth warm and bring the creatures lights.
They decided to pile wood as high as the sky and light a fire, but then no one could see the morning star and start their day.
The spirits heard the Koobaburra laughing as it hunted a mouse and instructed it to be a hero. Since then the Kookaburra start to laugh every morning to keep the sleepers awake and no one ever
should mock the Kookaburra or it would not sing and earth would lose its warmth and light.

da manhã. Os espíritos pediram a Kookaburra para rir de manhã e acordar todas as creaturas para sempre. Se alguma fizesse pouco dela a luz e o calor desapareceriam para sempre.
